The Kansas Senate has rejected a proposal to allow terminally ill patients access to medical cannabis under the state’s Right to Try Act.
On Friday, Democratic Senator Cindy Holscher introduced an amendment to Senate Bill 250, aiming to permit medicinal cannabis as an experimental treatment.
All 31 Republican senators opposed the amendment, while nine Democrats supported it. The decision keeps Kansas among the few states without legal medical cannabis access, leaving patients with limited options—seek alternative treatments, turn to illegal sources, or relocate.
